El Tisingal

El Tisingal is an impressive farm of 600 hectares that half of them are in the Parque Internacional de la Amistad (PILA), which was declared by the United Nations a reservoir of biosphere and patrimony of humanity in 1983. Currently, UNESCO has expressed interest on its protection, especially to protect the area against hydro electrical projects.

Three hundred hectares inside the PILA has been inscribed in the Carbon Sequestration Program, promoted after Kyoto Protocol. The program pays $30.0 per hectare a year to keep the forest in its natural state. In the whole area eco tourist and research activities can be developed.  The owners are waiting for the response from the institution.
