Daily round-trip transportation to the island will be provided from Panama City by boat, only a 90-minute ride.
The Pearl Islands are a group of small islands located in the calm Pacific Ocean of Panama. The history starts in the 1500s when the Spaniard conquistadors came to America searching for a new world, and the Contadora Island (the oldest island) was used to inventory all the wealth before going back to Spain.
The named Pearl Island was given by Basco Nunez de Balboa thanks to all the pearls that were found in this area during 1513.
The area has hosted the refugee Shah of Iran, Dior’s vacation home, the reality show Survivor, and La Peregrina Pearl owned by Elizabeth Taylor and recently auctioned by Christies in New York for the amount of US$ 10.5 million.
