S&P raises Panama outlook to 'stable'

February 22, 2005

NEW YORK, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Standard & Poor's Ratings Services on Friday revised the outlook on Panama's long-term sovereign credit ratings to 'stable' from 'negative.'
It affirmed Panama's 'BB' long-term sovereign credit ratings.

"The outlook revisions reflect expected improvement in the government's fiscal deficit and debt dynamics following the recent passage of a fiscal reform package and prospects for social security reform," S&P said in a statement.

The ratings agency said Panama's ratings reflected a stable political environment.
