Tocumen International Airport achieves the Best in Central America and the Caribbean distinction

Tocumen International Airport received the distinction of “Best airport in Central America and the Caribbean”, according to the satisfaction survey carried out by the consulting firm Skytrax, within the framework of the World Airport Awards 2022, recognitions granted by passengers from all over the world.

According to the data provided by the Department of Statistics of Tocumen, S.A., in the month of April 2022, Tocumen maintained its direct connections to 78 destinations, through 20 airlines.

The study includes surveys in more than 550 airports, based on the satisfaction of millions of users about the services offered by each aerodrome; It takes into account a total of 39 sections in relation to access, public transport, comfort, cleanliness or safety, among other aspects.

The result of this recognition was revealed by Forbes magazine. The World Airport Awards are currently one of the world’s largest quality benchmarks for the airport industry, taking into account the opinions of passengers from different airports and airlines around the world.

Since 1999, Skytrax has carried out this type of survey to find out the satisfaction of users in the aviation sector and for this, it is based on a single format of questionnaire and analysis, so that the results can be comparable.

Tocumen Airport mobilizes more than 1.2 million passengers in April

The Tocumen International Airport mobilized 1,243,475 passengers during the month of April, which represents an additional 787,211 passengers compared to the same period during the year 2021.

According to the data provided by the Department of Statistics of Tocumen, S.A., in April Tocumen maintained its direct connections to 78 destinations, through 20 airlines.

The mobilization of passengers through Tocumen in the month of April 2022 is headed by users from South America, which represented 46%, North America 29%, the Caribbean 10%, Central America 10%, and Europe 5%.

Copa Airlines has also announced that starting in June it will once again fly from the Tocumen International Airport in Panama, to two of the most sought-after destinations in the Caribbean: St. Maarten and Barbados.

The Copa Airlines route to St. Maarten will be reactivated on Wednesday, June 1, with flights to and from this island every Wednesday and Friday. The air connection with Barbados will be enabled from Wednesday June 15 and there will also be two weekly flights to this destination on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
